Now put your hands on the SHL rulebook. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Say I do!
Answer by T : So help me Yoda. I do!
SL : How could Yoda be of any help in this situation? You seem already at peace with yourself! ๐Ÿ™‚
Answer by T : Was an ode to our fearless leader.
SL : All hail to our master!

Please tell us your real first name and where do you live right now?
Tyler H born, raised and returned forever to London, Ontario, Canada
SL : Would that be any different if it was London, England instead?
Answer by T : They are quite different. One is much larger and one has women with teeth that don’t make you vomit. Guess which one I live in.
SL : Itโ€™s how big your heart is that matters Tyler! ๐Ÿ™‚

When and how did you first find out about the SHL?
Answer by T : FHLsim boards ages ago. Was in the league a long while ago, but real life got too hectic and happy being back again. Chris runs a great number of leagues.
SL : And he is doing so with an iron fist too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here a question from the NYR GM Todd: Would love to hear what he plans to do with the 16 defenseman he has on roster and why he doesn’t return my calls.
Answer by T : We went heavy defence for sure. It seemed to work early in the season, now not so much. After moving Ovy we needed to bolster some part of our team to build around and the back end was what we went with. Try something different from the usual roster build. Not entirely sold on it, but gave it a try. Team is in a weird state right now. As for the calls. I’ve been wanting to give this roster build a fair shake for a season. Not to mention been a wild year. Finished up a house reno, got covid a few times, got a new career out of my old events career. Cause well events were tough to come by in covid. Leave a message after the beep for the calls. We’ll be selling lots in the offseason.

Im not going to hide from anyone, I know you since my RSHL days some 15+ years ago. You won 2 cups over there (Iโ€™m sure more in other leagues) and you always had a good team! Whats the ETA of a Cup in Beantown?
Answer by T : As of right now it seems like it’ll be a bit. I usually follow a “strict” cycle and it’ll take a season or two to get Boston aligned with my usual roster-building plans. But we’ve got a good start. We’ve got a lot of good prospects that I like and pro guys that I should start moving. We’ll get there.
SL : Iโ€™m sure you will!

Who is your favorite NHL team?
Answer by T: Chicago Blackhawks fan since I was very young. I was and still am a goalie in hockey and growing up I had Eagles on my mask and adored Ed Belfour. I cried as a young high school’er the day he signed in Toronto. Went to his hall-of-fame game where he played forward which was weird. I lived through the tough days (ABC line Arnason-Bell-Calder where they were top line on Hawks, fourth line everywhere else) and the three cups run was unbelievable. Also a die-hard London Knights fan and season ticketer since I was a kid.
SL : Not sure if you read the Kings interview but Johan is a Hawks fan too.

Who is your favorite player of all time?
Answer by T : Ed Belfour like I said above. Then it’s a long list of ex London Knights. Brendan Shanahan, David Bolland, Corey Perry, Patrick Kane, etc, etc.
SL : Just so you are aware, Scorey Perry is mine and itโ€™s going to cost you a boat load of whatever if you really want him! You have been warned! ๐Ÿ™‚

Who is the person you would like to meet (dead or alive)? Feel free to explain!
Answer by T : Urgh. In a previous career of mine, I was a hip-hop radio host and sometimes meeting your hero’s suck. You build up this crazy idolizing image of them as a person. Then to meet them and have that crushed is really disheartening. It didn’t help that I don’t look hip-hop so sometimes the respect is harder to come by. But past life of mine. Right now I’d say David Grohl just cause there’s no way he’d disappoint.
SL : He is Rock Solid! Did you watch his Whats Drives Us doc/film on Prime? Makes you want to take that van and be in a band!
Answer by T : I have not yet. I’ll add it to the list. But man I hate all these different streaming services. We went from hating on cable because we had to individually pay for so many channels. Now here we are purchasing multiple “streaming services”. We are right back to where we started. Bring back napster and limewire for shows!
SL : Iโ€™d ask Lars Ulrich of Metallica first what he thinks of that! ๐Ÿ™‚

Question : If you could catch a GM asleep and steal one of his players, who would that be? Not that you really need anything right now!
Answer by T : Should I add to the narrative and say catch Bernie sleeping and steal Makar? The obvious answer is Johan and McDavid. That’s the right answer. But people can come up with creative other players. It’s McDavid full stop.

You get first overall to start a league, which player would you choose? And why?
Answer by T : It’s McDavid full stop.

Whatโ€™s the best way to approach you about a trade request?
Answer by T : Honesty and not playing too much of “the game”. I suck at first offers, not afraid to admit to it. I struggle with it in simhockey and fantasy football. But just come with what you want, what you can move and let’s do something.
SL : Just basically come up to you and have a chat!

What annoys you when a GM approaches you ?
Answer by T : Honestly nothing. I know people have individual styles. Maybe the ones trying to put too much pressure on you. I don’t make any moves to just make moves. If we’re going to trade it’s gotta be for a reason. But usually, let’s just talk it out.

I know the SHL rulebook is a near perfect work but if they was one rule that you would change or add, what would it be?
Answer by T : I’d love for us to be able to have a few hideaway players. We all have a player or two on our pro roster that don’t belong. They are there just due to the waiver rules. I get the reasoning for that. But the constant steal thing is overblown I think. But I fully support the rules as they are. Just would be nice to have a few stowaway spots or something.

If there was no stupid virus around, and you have an unlimited amount of cash, where would be the first destination you travel into? Could be space!
Answer: Well if it could be space, then space it is. I’d love to see Egypt, but it’s so touristy now it’s kinda late on that. Space would be cool but think it’s also like hey I’m here, now what, nothing? Alright, let’s go back down. I honestly don’t have a real answer for that right now.
SL : Looks like it could also be anywhere and you would find a way to have fun anyhow!

What gets you these days! Sports event, TV Series, your cat, anything?
Answer by T : Gaming! My new position at the College I work at is Esports Director and under my previous events role I started up an esports program. With the new position, it’s all 100% official supported and backed by the college and student union. I’ve kinda built my own career and “wing” of the college. So that’s super exciting. It’s funny because I just play the basic NHL, Madden and Fallout type of games not the wild esport titles. But fully supporting the games and students who play them. Also built a whole production type studio for the program as well. I left the workforce chasing a salary and chose to just focus on a career I want to do for my own mental health and it’s been rewarding ever since. I should say also my kids of course, I have a 3 and a 1.5-year-old. So they are my life now outside of my career and hockey myself.
SL : Looks like you created and found your happy place! Good on you!

Any questions, queries, comments or dark secrets you want to add before we leave?
Answer by T : Dark secrets? You don’t want to go down that road with me. Just want to thank Chris for running such a good league and shout out to the GMs who are insanely active always make the boards a fun read. I know we have a ways to go, but I’m excited.
SL : Nice way to finish it : Acknowledging the work of others! Way to go Tyler!

Thanks a lot for answering all my questions! Now! Who would you like to
hear about next and what should be the first question?
Answer: Trevor of the Isles. How much are you enjoying the Jack Hughes breakout?
