End of an era-Danault-Kubalik traded to TO
Just a quick story to start! I was on some adult dating site the other night with my 5 years old daughter that wasn’t able to fall asleep. I wanted to teach her a couple of tricks before she starts kindergarten in September so I told her, bring your teddy bear and come down and sit with daddy. Just to give a head start, you know!
I was slowly « scrolling » my way through all the available charming ladies when she started whining a bit too loud asking why she couldn’t find her mommy’s picture on the screen. I obviously told her to keep quiet because mommy was sleeping upstairs and we don’t really need her for our searches right now, you know! Suddenly, one lady came up for a chat and she started asking about the SHL. I was surprised that she would even know about our league but after I realized that I had written that on my list of as my no. 1 hobby. I though it was a great idea to wake my daughter up to tell her how cool that thing was! She agreed obviously because she is daddy’s daughter after all! I gave her a big heartfelt kiss on the front head and told her that I love her forever plus one day! Even thought it was a little after midnight and normally, by that time, all the best princesses are deeply in their sleep, she quickly corrected me by saying: Daddy, it’s forever and a day! Not one day! Just like Shakespeare said…Oh boy! These kids! They are so clever these days!
What was I saying? Oh ya! The social media girl! Before asking me to go on a blind date with her, she wanted to know if I would be confortable if she could check on my “background” by asking another GM how good a guy I am. I had no idea which GM she might knows! It could also be Juliet from Calgary playing a trick on me, so I quickly accepted the request. Just to play the game, you know ! Mostly, that’s why the guys enter these meeting sites in the first place. To play The Game! After rapidly going around the GM list, I was confortable with having my “background” checked. After all, I’m a nominee for the Bob Gainey Award trophy, so I’m covered but she doesn’t know that! Being curious of nature, I ask her : Who do you know in our league? She quickly said : the Toronto GM! I said Chris Ransom? She said yes…but no! What does that mean? I’m suddenly losing it! I’m all confused! I’m not that confortable anymore! I’m repeating to myself: Chris Ransom is not Chris Ransom? Is he a “Gamer” too! I’m so in shock that even my cursor on the screen stopped blinking and the dots on my message board are replaced by question marks instead! I know she still there so I said : Tell me the truth ! But do I really want to know the truth ? So I took a deep breath and asked : Who is Chris Ransom than?
She explained it to me that it wasn’t his real name. His real name is Kris Hanson. She also confessed to me that she and her friends from high school all had a crush on him and all the girls where even calling him : Kris Handsome! He also flirt with one her friend and told her that tonight, after the dancing night party, if she is really nice, she could have him “and some”! Cheeky Cheeky our Chris !
Anyway! I told the mystery girl that I needed some time to think about that one! That I didn’t know what to think of that! Is it true? Is Chris Ransom really Chris Ransom? I guess there is only one way to find out!

Just like the rest of them though, he never caught whiff of what was really going on, until it was far too late.
I need more explanations from Blake here! I like Star Wars but not sure I understand how the 2 stories are linked together!
More importantly! Who is Palpatine in my story? Me? Juliet? The mysterious lady on the Internet? Chris?
