It was a stressful time for New Jersey as they didn’t know if Tatar would sign back with the Devils. Regarded by many as the 2nd best forward on the market after Pacioretty, the Devils knew the demand for him would be great and many teams would want to get their hands on him. The dust has settled though and New Jersey has locked Tatar up. It is unknown at this time what the contract term is but from rumours we’ve been hearing he’ll be locked up long term and will be around a 30 million dollar investment in him.

It is no secret that the Devils have lost a fair majority of the core that brought them within 2 games of winning the SHL championship. While New Jersey obviously would have preferred to keep the core together, they knew what ufa troubles they were going to be this summer. With all the players that have left it has opened up some captaincy spots and it is rumoured that Tatar will be wearing an A on his jersey come the start of the year as he will be looked as a source of leadership for all the newcomers on the team. Tatar will be one of the biggest offensive weapons in New Jersey this upcoming season and don’t be surprised if he puts up career highs playing alongside the Devils star player Patrice Bergeron for most of the season.
